The SLRC’s review of the Narcotics Act 1967 (Drugs Reform) explores various issues relating to illegal drugs that currently affect and will continue to affect Samoan communities if we don’t act now.
For example, the prevalence of meth cases, the region becoming a gateway for illegal drug trade, the lack of data on drug related harm, inadequate enforcement due to poor resources, lack of support for addicts and many others. The push and move to address these issues is a collaborative effort and requires ALL to play their part to ensure that Samoa’s future is safe and secure. Therefore, your views on the above issues are important to us.
Please keep an eye out on our website and facebook page re dates and places for our public consultations which would be held soon in both Upolu and Savai’i after Cabinet’s approval of our Issues Paper. The Issues Paper will contain questions on the above issues and more.
